Hello friends! National Cereal Day in Pre-K is coming up on March 7! Are you a big cereal fan? I have to be in the mood to eat it, but some of my favorites are fruity pebbles, apple jacks, and lucky charms! What are some of your favorites?
Here are 5 National Cereal Day in Pre-K ideas:
Cereal Sort – This is a great activity with St. Patty’s day coming up as well. Students can sort their lucky charms cereal. They can practice sorting the marshmallows into different piles, while identifying the various colors and shapes.
Small Group Cereal Sort – Students can practice identifying different letters and numbers with the teacher in small group. There are a couple cereal brands like sesame street and alpha-bits that are comprised of letters and numbers. After the students complete their activity, they can their cereal (don’t forget to check for allergies).
Circle Time Cereal – Incorporate cereal into circle time! When students are holding the box of cereal, they’re allowed to speak. Maybe they can name their favorite cereal or breakfast food.
Cereal Names – Depending on the students skill level, they can use Fruit Loops or cheerios to build their name. If they need more help, teachers can write their name out in marker first, and then the students can use that to build on top. This is a great activity for strengthening those fine motor skills!
Cereal Patterns – During small group time, students can practice creating and extending different patterns. They’ll identify the pattern as well as any colors or shapes used. Fruit Loops work well for this activity since there are multiple colors.
I hope you all have an extra fun cereal day 🙂 !
