Hello friends! National Swimming Pool Day in Pre-K is coming up on July 11! Are you a sit by the pool all day kind of person? I know I am. There’s something about the sun and getting Vitamin C that’s so relaxing! What are some of your favorite pool games to play?
Here are 5 National Swimming Pool Day in Pre-K ideas:
1. Swimming Exercises – Students always love brain breaks! Have them pretend to swim during circle time, morning meeting, or during a brain break. Make sure the children have enough space between them before starting.
2. 1, 2, 3 Jump! Read Aloud – Students will learn all about pool safety in this cute story. They’ll enjoy hearing what they can wear in the pool. Don’t forget to ask students questions along the way. See if they’ve ever been swimming before.
3. Water Table Fun – Students can pretend their water toys are swimming. They can count how many laps they did in the “pool.”
4. Kiddie Pool – Teachers can use a kiddie pool to show students what a pool looks like. No need to fill it with water. The teacher can then tape pictures of objects to the bottom of the pool. Students will then toss a pool ring onto a picture. Name the picture, and then say a word that rhymes with it. For example, if they landed on a cat, a rhyming word would be rat.
5. Swimming Songs – Students will love singing along with Little Angel as they discover swimming for the first time. They will learn about blowing bubbles, jumping, splashing water, floating, kicking, and holding your breath. This is an awesome visual for students!
I hope your day goes extra swimmingly 🤿 !
